French-British pianist RIOPY appeared in the Billboard Classical charts for nearly 147 weeks with his second album Tree of Light. In 2023, he played to sold-out venues in the US and Europe, released his fourth album THRIVE with chart success in the US, UK, and France, and became an ambassador of the UK's Mental Health Week. His highly successful track "Flo" appeared on the 2024 Grammy-nominated album of Lana Del Rey. Today, his music has garnered over 860 million streams.

Jean-Philippe RIOPY had a difficult upbringing, during which the piano was his lifeline. An entirely self-taught player, he left his home country at 18 years old to try his luck abroad. RIOPY had one goal: to make a living from his music. After ten years of travels and many fateful encounters, such as with Chris Martin who gave him a piano, he settled in London and began to compose for cinema. Despite this success in his life and career, he still faced the struggle of chronic depression. This vulnerability emerged in the music of his first two albums, RIOPY and Tree of Light in 2018 and 2019 with Warner Classics. In 2020, RIOPY returned to France for a few months, marking the beginning of a peaceful era, and released BLISS, thereby closing a musical trilogy.

In January 2022, he ranked #1 on the Billboard Classical Charts for three consecutive weeks, and his career took on a new dimension: he began a French tour that quickly became European. In ten months, RIOPY played for sold-out audiences in five Paris venues and performed across Europe in London, Berlin, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Montreux, and soon again in the UK for a twelve-city tour.
In December, he traveled across the Atlantic to perform in Montreal, San Francisco, and two sold-out concerts in New York and Los Angeles.

The year 2023 saw Tree of Light stable in the Billboard Classical Charts for 147 consecutive weeks, more than 850 million streams, a feature on Lana Del Rey’s GRAMMY nominated album,
and his fourth album in April: THRIVE. This project evokes the inner strength that guides us to fulfill our
goals, the willpower that leads to positive evolution. The pianist found this collective strength in notes and themes of great composers from
classical music history and in integrating strings into his compositions for the first time. With THRIVE, he wrote a new chapter. The same year, RIOPY performed throughout Europe, returned to the United States.  
RIOPY's 2019 track “Ukiyo'' from Tree of Light also was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America with more than 500,000 copies sold.  He closed the year with a special original EP featuring a trio of holiday-inspired compositions: On a Starry Christmas Night. RIOPY starts 2024 with new tracks to be released in Spring. 

THRIVE marks the beginning of a new chapter for RIOPY. It will be the first of his albums to include strings alongside the evocative and powerful pianism.

As well as new compositions for solo piano, the album features the composer-pianist’s take on famous music which has most inspired him, including works by Satie, Pachelbel, Beethoven, Fauré, Debussy and Chopin. He has transformed their much-loved melodies into cinematic scores of his own, and composed lush arrangements for string orchestra. He explains: "The piano has always helped me find this momentum, this inner strength, and composing for strings has opened up new horizons for me. The reinterpreted melodies on this album are a metaphor to show that everything can evolve."
